Honda Odyssey 2020 Interior Review

consumers report login

Honda's Odyssey is a fantastic choice for minivan buyers. It's spacious and comfortable, with plenty of cargo area, and it offers a pleasant ride. And it's one of the safest in its class, too. In fact, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the Odyssey a Top Safety Pick Plus rating.

The Honda Odyssey comes with four trims: EX and EX-L, as well as Touring and Elite. Higher trims come with features such an 8.0 inch touchscreen infotainment system and Apple CarPlay. However, Odyssey models in the lower trim levels are sufficient for most buyers.

The Odyssey comes with a 3.5 liter V6 engine producing 280 horsepower. It is coupled with a 10-speed automated transmission. Although it may not be as fast or as others, it is sufficient to keep up with traffic on the highway. The Odyssey achieves 22 mpg when combined.

Honda has added two transmissions to its Odyssey lineup. Standard in the lower models is a 9-speed, while an optional ten-speed version is available. Both are available in the Sport grade. Black leather seats with contrast stitching and dark exterior accents are included in the Sport model. 19-inch alloy wheels are also available. Rear-seat entertainment screens can be fitted with streaming apps.

If you need more space in the Odyssey's interior, the Sport and the Touring trims come with the Magic Slide 2nd-row seat. This seat slides forward to allow easy access into the third row. Also included are power-sliding rear doors and remote start.

The Honda Odyssey's interior design is spacious, comfortable, yet quiet. It's equipped with a plethora of sensors. There are blind-spot detection and lane departure warning, rear cross-traffic system warnings and active lane management. There are also smart storage areas built into the doors and consoles.

Despite its compact size, the Odyssey provides an ample amount of legroom for its eight-passenger seating. The Odyssey is also very low to its ground. Compared to the Chrysler Pacifica, the Honda Odyssey has about two inches more legroom in the back.

Honda's Sensing package is also available on the Odyssey. This package includes adaptive cruise and active lane controls, as well as forward collision warning with automatic brakes. HondaLink app is also available on higher-trim models.

Other features on the 2023 Honda Odyssey are USB ports, a complimentary planned maintenance plan, as well an 8-inch touchscreen. The LX entry-level model has been discontinued. However, the Odyssey line for 2023 has a Sport variant.

The Odyssey's design is a combination of modern and traditional. Although not as elegant as other minivans it's well-designed.

Honda offers a three-year/36,000-mile limited warranty and five-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty for the Odyssey. These warranties are identical to most other competitors. However, the warranty is extended by the company to a maximum of eight years or unlimited mile.

The Honda Odyssey is a great family minivan. It's safe, quiet, and spacious. Some drivers may find the interior too dull.
